lust auf echtes
(“Lust for the real Thing”)
video, sound, 20 min, 2008
This work can be seen very much like a “moving painting” – hovering between abstraction and figurativeness. The action is very simple - a dog is chewing a bone in a garden… At times we see close up teeth, a very pink tongue, detail of fur, green, yellow, orange leaves or red meat pieces on the bone. The dog is never fully visible, in fact it might not be obvious that we are looking at a dog- the dog could represent the “wild animal” (which he obviously is not) hence the “Lust auf Echtes” the longing for the “real thing” …
It is a reflection of the domesticated, and how desire and lust are deeply rooted in all creatures.
